It all began with a bunch of mates working on bikes….

In 2018, a bunch of work mates got together to hang out, work on bikes and be intentional about having “awkward conversations” about life’s challenges. This small group and these conversations had an impact on the individuals involved, and so they wondered how they could create this for others, and the dream of the Motorcycle Collective was born….

Where we are going…

Our short term goals are to set up our mobile workshop and find a number of locations to operate it from on a regular basis. Then, start building a community of customers, friends and supporters.

With some momentum behind us, we aim to find a permanent location to operate from and expand our capabilities, both mechanical and social. Getting there will require building enough support and membership to cover rent and other expenses associated with having a building.

Grant Awarded to Motorcycle Collective

Reaching Out and Building Support

We’re contacting motorcycling community groups and organisations around Wellington for indications of support and interest in the project. In addition to dozens of offers of support from individuals, we’ve had great discussions with Wellington Riders, Wellinton Area Road Skills (WARS) and the Bikers Rights Organisation of New Zealand (BRONZ). DGR Social Connections Opportunity
